About debbie:
Debbie Wilson has spent her entire life in the North Country, providing her with a deep understanding of the region and its evolution over the years. She embarked on her career in the business world 35 years ago, starting as a secretary and progressing through roles such as receptionist, account clerk, accountant, office manager, HR manager, business manager, fiscal/operations manager, and administrative manager. In this last role, she was in charge of overseeing the office, accounting, purchasing, HR, and inventory.
Having worked across various industries, including for-profit, non-profit, and government sectors, and climbing the ranks, Debbie has accumulated 15 years of management experience. This journey has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of the inner workings of businesses, offering her a well-rounded perspective. Moreover, these experiences have honed her innate ability to sift through complexities and focus on truly essential matters.
Debbie's core is fueled by a strong passion for volunteer work. She has served as a statistician for the local football team for a decade, contributed five years to the Future’s Tour in Syracuse, and held various board positions for organizations such as the North Country Human Resource Association, Carthage Little Theater, Northern Blend Chorus, and Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired of Jefferson County. Currently, she holds positions on the boards of the Watertown Downtown Business Association and Adams Free Library. Her role as the Harmony Inc. Business Services Manager for the International Contest and
Convention and her involvement as a decorator/designer for the Annual Festival of the Trees (Samaritan Medical Center Foundation/YMCA for 7 years) round out her past and present volunteer work.
What Debbie finds most fulfilling about her role as a business advisor for the Small Business Development Center is that she has finally landed her dream job – assisting people in pursuing their dream businesses.
