Cayuga County Small Business of the Year: Winand products, Inc.

Winand Products manufactures Perfeito, a Brazilian inspired group of spices for poultry, beef and fish. Owner and founder Patricia Springer started the company in 2020 when she was doing a lot of home cooking during the pandemic for her family. Born and raised in Brazil, this mixture of spices was from her mother’s seasoning blend recipes. Ms. Springer lived in Europe for a number of years and worked as a global business executive in the telecom and biotech industries with a proven track record of growing businesses. The combination of her business experience and love for cooking led her during the pandemic to make the decision to produce these spices and start her company. As she was starting the process in 2020, she continued working in her corporate job. But in 2021, she left her corporate role to devote her efforts to Winand Products.

In a short period of existence, Winand Products has not only built a manufacturing facility and is in full production and sales, their seasonings (Perfeito) are sold online and in grocery stores such as Wegmans. Currently, they are in negotiations with grocery store chain Publix to carry their products in all of their stores as well. Additionally, they are looking to the global spice market for additional sales opportunities.  Winand is actively engaged with NY SBDC Cayuga County satellite of the Onondaga Community College SBDC to assist with going global as well as marketing strategies. Ms. Springer has plans to create additional products to supplement her existing product lines of spices.

Their success in such a short time is due in large part to their founder Patricia Springer, who has a long global management background and education as well as her determination and passion.
